DNS Server Not Responding on Windows 7

1. Incorrect DNS Settings
2. Disable Firewall Protection

Incorrect DNS Settings

The incorrect DNS settings may become the cause of your DNS Server not responding on Windows 7. Here are the steps to make correct settings:

1. Click Start button on the Taskbar.
2. Type NCPA.CPL in the Search box, and press ENTER.
3. Right click the local area connection you are using, and select Properties.
4. Select Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IPv4), and click Properties button.
5. Select the option Use the following DNS server addresses.
6. Enter the following:
a. Primary DNS: 208.67.222.222
b. Secondary DNS: 208.67.220.220
7. Click OK | OK.

Disable Firewall Protection

If you are using a Firewall software, then disable it temporarily, and check whether the problem still persists or not.

Disabling Windows Firewall

1. Click Start button on the Taskbar.
2. Type Windows Firewall in the Search box, and press ENTER.
3. Click Turn Windows Firewall On or Off link at the left hand pane.
4. Select the following two options:
a. Turn off Windows Firewall (not recommended) from Home or work (private) network location settings.
b. Turn off Windows Firewall (not recommended) from Home or work (private) network location settings.
5. Click OK button.

Clean Browser Cache

Try cleaning the browser cache via system cleaner software for resolving this problem. Most of the times the internet connectivity problem are browser related.

Uninstall VPN Software

Virtual Private Network (VPN) software enables private communications over wireless or computer network via tunnelling technology. If you have installed any VPN software, then try uninstalling it.

1. Click Start | Control Panel.
2. For Windows XP, double click Add or Remove Programs. For Windows Vista or Windows 7, click Programs | Uninstall a Program.
3. Select the VPN software you have installed.
4. Click Uninstall or Remove button.
5. Follow the on screen instructions, and reboot the system after completion.

Reinstall the Network Adaptor

1. Click Start button on the Taskbar.
2. Type Device Manager in the Search box and press ENTER.
3. Expand: | Network Adaptors.
4. Right click the network adaptor you are using, and select Uninstall option.
5. Reboot the system after completion.
6. The system shall detect the network adaptor now. If it does not, then do the Steps 1 and 2 above.
7. Right click, and select Scan for Hardware Changes.
8. The new hardware process will start. Wait for detection of your network adaptor.
9. Configure the newly installed network adaptor properly. For the information about configuring it, refer to Incorrect DNS Settings section.

Setup a Static for IP via DHCP

For those using their IP Address via DHCP should configure the network settings as below:

1. Click Start button on the Taskbar.
2. Type NCPA.CPL in the Search box, and press ENTER.
3. Right click the local area connection you are using, and select Properties.
4. Select Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IPv4), and click Properties button.
5. Select the option Use the following IP address.
6. Enter the following:
a. IP Address: 192.168.1.3
b. Subnet Mask: 255.255.255.0
c. Default Gateway: 192.168.1.2
7. Select the option Use the following DNS server addresses.
8. Enter the following:
a. DNS server: 192.168.1.2
9. Click OK | OK.

Guess what CIO: there is a revolution that is just starting in the world of computer networking. Sure, you know about the importance of information technology but are you going to be ready for this? Say Hello To Software Defined Networking

What has changed for person with the CIO job is that a new way of building computer networks has arrived. The new approach is called Software Defined Networking or SDN. In the world of SDN, your network will no longer be populated by a bunch of very smart boxes from Cisco. Instead, you'll be buying dumb white label boxes and deploying them through your network. Once you've done this, you'll then install a very powerful server at the heart of your network and you'll run a fancy control program on it to control all of your "dumb" network elements.

The basic idea behind SDN is to centralize all of the intelligence in a network. Instead of distributing your processing power throughout each piece of expensive networking gear that you add to your network, you now place all of your network smarts in one place. One big advantage of doing things this way is that updating your network software just go a lot easier: you now only have to update the software that is running on one server, not on the 100's of boxes that you have deployed in your network.

SDN provides a lot of other benefits. Network equipment costs should be lowered dramatically because you'll no longer need "smart" boxes. When a network failure occurs, the network routing protocol that is running on the central server should be able to converge faster because it has a god's-eye view of every thing that is occurring in the network.

This Changes Everything

As the person in the CIO position, you need to forgive just exactly what the implications that the arrival of SDN networks may mean for your organization. What we are seeing is a fundamental shift in how computer networks are going to be built. We are moving away from computer networks that are defined by their hardware and moving towards computer networks that are being implemented primarily in software. The implications of this are quite large.

When you implement a computer network in software, you now have the ability to change how the network behaves not by sending a technician out to reconfigure hardware, but rather by making changes to the software that is running your network. This means that you'll be able to adapt your computer network to the environment that it finds itself in much quicker than you have ever been able to do before.

Although this SDN stuff may strike you as being the stuff of academic fantasy, what you need to understand is that SDN has already arrived. Over at Google they have taken one of the primary backbone networks that they use to interconnect their data centers and converted to now use SDN technology. The results have been nothing less than spectacular. They are now doing a much better job of utilizing the links that run between their data centers and they are able to test the impact of network configuration changes long before they deploy them into the network.

What All Of This Means For You

As CIO you need to stay on top of the changes that are occurring in technology that will impact your IT department. The arrival of Software Defined Networking (SDN) is one such new technology. SDN has the potential to completely change how our computers networks are both designed and created.

The way that networks are built today is by purchasing a great deal of expensive, sophisticated networking hardware and then having trained staff interconnect them. With the arrival of SDN, this all changes. Now the network will consist of cheap commodity networking hardware being deployed in the network and a sophisticated control program that manages everything running on a powerful server at the heart of the network. This new way of building a network will allow changes to the network to be made simply by changing the software that the controls the network.

As the CIO you are going to have to understand the impact that SDN is going to have on your IT department. Why You Need to Stop Having Networking Conversations

A colleague of mine recently flew to another country to attend a sizeable social event, which was meant to be fun. At this particular function, there were many people she knew. At one point, a successful entrepreneur came up to her and started a networking conversation after quick pleasantries that lasted less than a minute.

„Do you happen to know anyone who might be interested in our service?“

„I know you’ve started to develop contacts in Europe. Did you know that our company has done excellent work overseas?

My colleague told me that she tried to end the conversation as quickly as possible, after being confused as to why the entrepreneur would be bringing up business at a social affair in such a way. There’s a time and place for everything, and this place was not the time for networking conversations out of the blue.

Some people think networking is a waste of time and they don’t do much of it. Then you have other people who believe that every moment is the right time to be selling.

Networking is an art

The reality is that networking is an art. The reason why my colleague was immediately turned off to the approach by the entrepreneur, despite the fact that she appreciated and liked his work, was because she didn’t want to be sold to–particularly at a social function!

Access matters

Networking has to happen in the right place and at the right moment. It’s not about meeting just anyone and blathering on about your successes and what you’re looking to achieve. It’s about getting in front of the right people to provide value to those people and also figure out a win/win.

The right people

My colleague was not one of the right people for the entrepreneur and his industry. She did not have any contacts in that industry, and as the entrepreneur began to pitch his business and successes, my colleague wondered why she was being pitched at a party on a topic and industry she barely knew.

Strategic networking

As I said, there are people out there who believe that networking is a waste of time, and to a certain extent, that’s true. The reason for it is simple: people do what the entrepreneur did. They are not strategic about their networking. They talk to people just to talk and then wonder why they come away with nothing. To be successful at networking:

  • Be smart about the people you want to speak to and figure out how to get access to them. The reality is that you don’t want to talk to everyone about your business. You just want to talk to the right people. A couple of years ago, a piece was written in Harvard Business Review about networking, and a story was related about Davos. The author wrote about an exceptional networker who said that most of what happened in Davos anyone can research or discover for him or herself. However, the most outstanding value of Davos was the access to the right people and the development and deepening of relationships.
  • Don’t look for quick results in networking. People can become disillusioned with networking because they think they are not getting the results they want. Did the entrepreneur believe that the conversation he had with my colleague would land him a new deal? I think that deep down, he knew that wouldn’t happen. The best networking comes from developing solid relationships with the right people that create winning opportunities and situations for both parties. The best networking is indeed a very strategic endeavor.
  • Sometimes the best opportunities arise from people that are not your closest supporters. One of the best sales experiences I had was sitting face to face with someone and engaging with someone on a personal level as we came up with ideas. The conversation ended up turning into a significant six-figure deal, but it came from a relationship which was not yet warm. I knew this person a little bit, but there were a freshness and dynamism to the relatively new relationship. Often, it makes sense to consider networking with people with whom you have a more distant relationship.

If you’re looking for a new job, chance or to develop your business, I suggest that you do a network audit, but also take the opportunity to think about how you can have the right conversations, with the right people, at the right time and place.

If Only I Could Adapt Like A USB Network Adapter

Having been born before the advent of computers, I am at a disadvantage in terms of upkeep and maintenance for my personal computer. The first experience of a serious nature with a computer was with a computer the size of a small house. It implemented the exact functions the calculator in your mobile phone does – less, actually.

So not surprisingly, I am among those who had to understand late in life what to do with a computer. And frankly, much of it was not too difficult. It made it easier that I got a job working for a company that made computers, and fixed them also. My workplace was adjunct to the service department, and I usually took advantage of having that team of 12 excellent men at my beck and call.

But, I work at home now, and when the time arrived to go wireless on my desktop Compaq, I was somewhat confused. My ISP – then Embarq – provided me the required USB network adapter, together with the modem. I was happy to discover that all I had to do along the lines of installation was just plug the USB wireless network adapter straight into my USB port.

Of course, I needed to make sure that the wireless antenna has not been interrupted in its performance by the fridge, the cordless phone, the beams in the ceiling; in other words, things I could do very little about. In that place, I ever had to switch to an internal antenna, which worked better in some way. I could install the antenna myself, thus de-mystifying the computer fairly.

I've moved, and this time, have had to set up another home office desk, in a different challenging spot. To my computer's dismay, I'm in a basement, surrounded completely by cinder blocks. Our new ISP, who will remain anonymous at this time, recommended I required a brand new modem, and my purchase was a Linksys modem.

Fortunately for me, the internal network adapter is functioning fine with the Linksys, and I have not had to purchase a corresponding Linksys USB network adapter, as I thought I might. Emboldened by all this "geek" work, and my fresh knowledge of computers, I have now learned how to clearly crack a case, and install a new hard drive. Turns out I'm not too old to learn a few new tricks.

What causes some people to join an on-line business and succeed and others fail? Still the members who joined free just baffled me. They had nothing to lose. And then I met Kayla. She is just over twenty years old, lives in a very poor country, and speaks no English. Kayla joined at the free level.

She learned to just copy and paste banners and ads on Face-book groups and great her business. She was relentless. Suddenly her down-line began to grow rapidly. After three months Kayla had thousands of dollars on both sides of her business. It was amazing to watch. She has signed-up people world-wide and used Google translate to communicate.

Women Entrepreneurs on How to Network a Room

Face your pre networking Jitters. Networking events can be nerve-racking, but do not worry. Even the most seasoned networking pros probably have feelings of uncertainty. Think of it as though it was your first day of kindergarten. People are excited to meet new people or they would not be at the event. So go out there and be cool and confidant. They will love you!

Be Prepared: Bring your best business cards, your most charming elevator speech, and a positive mingling attitude. Do your research about the club so you can gauge what kind of people will be there.

Approach: Wait for someone to walk up to you, or better yet, start up a conversation with someone who is standing alone. People usually appreciate it if you take the initiative.

Be relaxed: Smile, make eye contact, and shake hands. If you smile and approach people in a relaxed manor, it will in turn help put them at ease.

Be Genuine: Do not bring out those business cards too early. Engage people in a personal conversation, showing them you are interested in who they are, not just what they can do for you.

Break the Ice: If you are not sure how to start a conversation, try making a casual remark about the weather, sports, movies, pets, or a common interest.

Listen Up: Show you are interested in what people have to say by asking a lot of questions and by being a good listener. Show respect for their thoughts by smiling, making eye contact and nodding.

Open up the circle to others: If you are talking within a group of people, be inviting. Position your shoulders something outward, so that people walking by can easily enter the conversation. If someone looks like they want to join in, you should catch them up on what you've been talking about.

For example: Hi! we were just talking about the difference between on-line networking vs. live networking. What is your take on that?

Excuse yourself politely: Networking is hit or miss, and sometimes you will end up talking to someone who might not be a good match. If you are ready for the conversation to end, politely excuse yourself by saying something like this: This has really been great. Could we exchange cards so that we can continue this conversation? If you have already exchanged cards, try asking if you can continue the conversation over the phone.

Finish Strong: Make a great last impression by going over to the person with what you had the best connection. Give them a short polite goodbye by shaking their hand, looking them in the eye and thank them. Tell them you enjoyed meeting them, and ask them when the best time to call would be. Head over to the host and thank him or her for having you. This will help you leave on a good note. Then it's time to get out of there, because you do not want to be the last one to leave.

Hit the phone: Gather your pile of business cards and enter them into your phone. While the leads are still hot, email or call the people who impressed you the most, telling them how much you enjoyed meeting them. Here is a sample of what you could say: Hello Mary this is Carole from last evenings networking event. I really enjoyed meeting you yesterday, how did things turn out for you? "

Networking is all about starting a conversation. Once you form a connection with someone, it'll be easier to maintain a fruitful business relationship.

Why Do Most Network Marketers Fail?

Network marketing is Simple, but doing the old way (i.e.

cold calling people) is NOT easy.

Don’t kid yourself!

Let me explain my view of why network marketing is notorious

for having a 95% or higher failure rate..

Have you ever heard of Occam’s razor?

It states that the simplest explanation for a phenomenon is

usually the best. We’ll use this theory to explain why more

than 95% or more network marketers fail.

Ready?

Most network marketers fail because the marketing methods

that they are taught don’t work 95% or more of the time.

So we’re led to ask the next logical question, what are most

fledgling network marketers taught?

Well, I can only speak from my experience, but what I was

taught was to buy and cold call leads.

Now, I’m not going to say this doesn’t work, but I will say

after six months of cold calling leads for 3 hours a

day with very little success this tactic doesn’t work for

me.

Honestly, unless you’re natural born confident sales leader

going into your network marketing career you’ll probably

have these same results.

Don’t get me wrong some people are very good at cold calling

leads, but most people aren’t.

What happens to most people after they’ve spend thousands of

dollars on leads with very little success after months of

effort?

They run out of money. They get burned out and then . . .

They give up.

Another important factor contributing to why most network

marketers fail is the type of leads they buy.

Why does the type of leads network marketers use make a

difference?

Well . . .

Business opportunity leads, the leads most new network

marketers are told to use, are generic. These leads answer

an ad that just asks them if they want to be financially

free or make money from home or something like that.

Well . . . of course they do!

But that doesn’t mean they want anything to do with YOUR

network marketing program.

When the average network marketer calls these generic

business opportunity leads the leads don’t know anything

about the network marketer’s business and for the most part

honestly don’t care.

This leads to the fledgling network marketer hearing a lot

of „NOs“.

Hearing NO all the time leads to quite a bit of self doubt,

both about the network marketer’s own ability and the

validity of their association with their network marketing

company.

Negative feelings begin to harbor and as I said before

eventually the network marketer gives up, usually within 3-6

months.

People want to follow a leader. When you have a system that

works like a magnet, prospects will then rely on you to lead

them. You need to capture other network marketers with

a proven system that can help them achieve their financial

freedom.

That’s basically why 95% of network marketers fail if you

asked me.

Let’s take a look at a flock of geese. When a goose flaps their

wings they provide an uplifting air to those around them.

There is a lead goose in ever flock and in flight the geese are

in formation behind their leader. Whenever they want to go
