Senior Social Networking

We primarily write about home business, why are we writing about senior social networking? Because senior networking is where the home business action is. Seniors are finding out that social networking is safe, convenient and satisfying. If you think social networking is only for teenagers and young adults, you better think again. Ditto for the home business networking businesses.

Why has senior social networking doubled in the last year? One answer is simple, adults over the age of 50 are the fastest growing segment of the population. The over 50 generations, because of their sheer volume significantly impact every market they touch. Online entrepreneurs have taken notice and are making the online social networking experience acceptable to the senior population.

Seniors are taking full advantage of the attention and opportunities. Why are online entrepreneurs so interested in the over 50 population? Aside from the fact that they control the wealth of the nation, studies have found that the 52 – 62 year olds spend the most money online. Almost half (47%) of adults 50 to 64 use social networking sites. That is up from only 25% in April of 2009. And an astounding 89% of their seniors, those over 65, send or read e-mails. Over half of those over 50 read online news. While I'll cover shopping in another article, suffice it to say that online and person-to-person marketing is now firmly established in the over 50 age groups with over 73% of those hooked up shopping online.

One big reason marketers love seniors is that they exhibit social media loyalty. That is the "stickiness" of the sites that use is significant. While most online users click from site to site studies show that, of the seniors that use networking sites, almost half (44%) use them EVERY day. That's BIG! The loyalty exhibited by seniors to their senior social networking sites is going to result in them getting more and more attention from online entrepreneurs.

In my opinion, this means we are going to see a huge increase in senior social networking to provide additional financial security. What do I mean? Seniors use the Internet to reconnect with people from their past, seek information and support with medical issues, chat with the grandkids or make new friends with similar interests. Social networking is all about building and re-building relationships. As the seniors become more firmly entrenched online they will discover the advantages of participating in a social online networking business and will be looking for Home Business Ideas .

Research shows that most seniors use the Internet to gather medical information, products and advice. More and more seniors are discovering through the their online sources that they can obtain reliable affordable products online. The cost that seniors have to pay for medical care is causing them to look for and find many well priced and efficient products available online and person-to-person. In addition, the increased ease and safety of buying online is helping to expand the network marketing buyer programs to the senior population moving their relationships online.

Because of this, I believe the prospects for the online senior community are very exciting. I also believe that the best online opportunity for seniors is network marketing. A network marketing company creates a product, performs all the administrative record keeping, manufacturing, warehousing, shipping and customer service functions while, the senior independent distributor, only pays a small fee to join. The senior independent representative spends their time and energy building a wholesale business, much like a wholesale buying club, with an organization of business builders that they want to work with. The senior works with a network of friends, family and close associate while they build financial freedom for the entire network together. Can not get much simpler nor rewarding.

Watch for updates as the senior online community makes their online presence felt as they flex their substantial collective economic muscles.

How to Get the Best Result From a Networking Event

Networking events are held by various organizations for various reasons. Local Chambers of Commerce frequently put on networking events for their members. Turn up on time or just before time to start meeting people at the event. One of the most important things to remember is to relax and enjoy yourself. Be yourself and you will enjoy yourself a lot more rather than trying to create a false impression. People will remember you more kindly if you are natural and behave normally. Smiling and being friendly is important. Do not hold back because you feel that some people may misunderstand your intentions. It is much better to have a large smile than to be considered unfriendly or cold.

Your focus should be on giving. If you give information you are going to get reciprocal behavior. On the other hand, if you focus on what you can get, you will be a lot less successful. Being a giver is sometimes a hard thing to do in a highly competitive situation. But it is a mindset that it will pay to cultivate and use at networking events. It's important that you prepare for the event by learning the names of the organizers and some of the key players. It sometimes pays to quickly find out who is going to be attending so you know what information you can share.

Make sure that you introduce yourself to the person hosting the event. This person may prove to be a valuable addition to your network. It is also polite when you introduce yourself to thank them for the opportunity to attend. This is not often done so you will be remembered by the host. Always introduce yourself to the guest speaker if there is one. When you are making someone for the first time always try and offer something. It may be praise, recognition, empathy, information or even introducing them to someone who might be able to help them.

By far the best way of starting conversations is to ask questions and listen intently to the answers. This is a great approach especially if you're nervous because it takes the focus off you and allows the other person to shine. It also allows you to learn something about the other person which may prove to be of great value.

Always try and make eye contact because it expresses respect and interest in the other person. It shows the other person that you are paying attention to what they're saying. "The greatest gift that you can give someone is your ability to listen." I do not know where that piece of wisdom came from but it is certainly applicable in all sorts of situations.

Computer Network Security Software – Why You Should Never Be Feeling Too Secure

Once you hook up your computer to a network – be it at home or at the office – you are vulnerable to attacks from the internet. It is therefore essential to have some kind of network security software installed.

Sure, your PC might not get compromised without this software just like somebody riding a motorbike without a helmet is not necessarily going to die in crash because they did not wear a helmet. You get the picture.

The first thing that comes to mind when talking about security software is of course an antivirus program with the latest virus definitions installed. This is not only for your own safety, but also for other people's safety. An infected computer can be manipulated by the cyber-criminal to infect other computers, all the contacts stored on your computer for example.

The "good old days" of only virus attacks are long gone now. Attackers have access to highly sophisticated spyware programs – some of them readily available for download on the net- which keep on getting better every day. The largest pest nowdays are Trojans. These are malicous programs which often contain a variety of malware. So if you get one Trojan on your PC, you can be pretty sure it can contain a combination of worms other trojans or even worse, rootkits.

That is why you should supplement your antivirus program with a good anti-spyware program. Both do an excellent job at what there are meant for. Most antivirus software offers some malware protection, but nothing as good as a standard anti-spyware program. This also doubles your defense if you care about computer network security.

Does it end there? Network security is a never ending process, depending on how secure you want your computer to be. For the home user there is another very important factor which often gets overlooked.

Most of you have heard about a firewall which is standard in an internet security suite. Few of you will understand the workings of a firewall. What does it mean if your firewall software asks you "program x wants to access the internet, allow once, allow always, deny?"

Just press "deny" once for the wrong program and you will have disabled your internet access. Much better to get a hardware firewall which is standard and already configured in a SOHO router and inevitably will not nag you with those incomprehensible questions.

As a home user does not hook up your PC directly to the network, get a router to tunnel and control the traffic between your PC and the internet.

Social Networking and Its Impact

Online communities have been around for quite a while now, becoming a popular trend in the middle of the nineties. They exist to bring people together in the form of a certain type of social networking. They have become quite prominent in recent times over the Internet, and almost everyone who is familiar with the Internet is aware of the presence of Facebook and MySpace.

Social networking is not just about meeting people on the Internet. It is also about keeping in contact with friends and tracking down old work collections and classmates that you may have lost contact with over the years. Although originally particularly popular among young people, social networking of one form or another is used by a huge number of the population, regardless of the age, social background or experience of the Internet.

Generally, anyone who uses a popular social networking website will create a profile with some information about themselves and attach some pictures to it if they wish. Profiles can usually be viewed by your mutual friends who you choose to keep in contact with. Therefore, anyone who sees your profile, does so with your consent.

There also chat channels on offer and a number of groups on different subjects where people can get together and meet others of like mind. People tend to invite each other to join their friends list and when this happens, both parties will be able to see each other's profiles and updates and keep in touch with what the other is doing.

Unfortunately, there has been a considerable amount of misuse in recent times of various social networking sites. For example, some people have impersonated others and caused a great deal of problems and breaches in personal privacy. Partly because of this and other factors, there are many who are very concerned about the safety of children using social networking sites.

The Benefits And Drawbacks Of Networking In Different Cities

Traveling for business can be very productive and fun at the same time. However, there are considerations that one needs to take into account when making the decision to attend a convention in a different part of the country and network. The purpose of this article is not to take a side, but to present one advantage and one disadvantage that the reader will hopefully take into consideration when making this decision.

Advantage: The Leads And Sales That You May Get

One of the great advantages of conventions is the networking that you can do. There are many different types of businesses that you can network with. One of the best ways to network is to exchange business cards and stay in contact with the other person. Going to different cities will help your business expand its customer footprint, particularly if it is an online business that can extend anywhere.

Networking will ensure that there are people who can help present leads for your business, whom you will hopefully be able to convert to sales. Networking will also help you learn about other businesses, how they operate and make sales, and about how they are successfully in the city they are based in. It can present many opportunities for the business owner.

Disadvantage: It Costs A Lot And The Sales Are Never A Guarantee

With any business, money and its flow throughout the business is always a key consideration. Travel expenses are never cheap and you must always be aware of whether there is enough money to justify traveling. You must do your best to find the best prices on flights as well as where to stay. This may involve decisions such as flying coach instead of first class or staying in hotels that aren’t as glamorous. As a business owner, you must always be willing to make sacrifices when it comes to finding prices that will fit the business’s budget especially in the early stages where money is a major issue.

It’s also important to understand that while you might make sales while networking, it’s never a sure thing. Sales are never a sure thing, but it becomes harder because you have to compete with the local businesses. Since your business is based in a different part of the country, your leads will often cite convenience as a reason not to go with your product or service so you need to be ready to address this point.

More Easy Networking For Teachers

Networking is not just restricted to professionals, but School Teachers can get in on the action and network for business, professional, personal and social success. School Teachers can lead very demanding and stressful lives and may not view networking as a tool for advancement. But that is all about to change after reading this article which is a part two of Easy Networking for Teachers.

Listed below are more helpful tips of how School Teachers can branch out, make great connections, develop relationships and develop professionally.

Office Supply Stores

School Teachers are encouraged to join membership clubs and office supply incentive programs. Beside getting monthly coupons and discounts, many of these retail shops offer incentives for teachers and educators. Early hours mingling and shopping and networking are just a few ways that these companies reward their local and national educators. This is a great opportunity to meet other educators, learn about various dynamics of the educational sector and link up with business people in the community.

Book Store Events

Along with Retail shops, Book Sores also offer discounts and incentives to teachers and educators. This is a great opportunity to provide resources to students and parents and branch out professionally and socially. Bookstores also hold monthly and weekly events which can draw a large number of people who are interested in education and learning. Being in an environment of like minded business individuals can greatly impact your networking and professional endeavors.

Board of Education

Believe it or not, School Teachers can network, gain more experience and champion causes of education and learning through their local Board of Education. It may require a lot of time management, but School Teachers can meet with officials, talk about pressing issues from the student, parent and educator's point of view. Being connected with the Board of Education can also strengthen ties in the community and encourage on going networking and commitments to the school system.

Underrated Networking

If you are heavily involved in networking and business, then you probably have encountered numerous empty promises of benefits and rewards for joining various groups or associations. Pricey club memberships, expensive meetings and events and added costs can create a disillusioned view of networking. It can also add to burn out and quitting altogether. How can professionals recognize and avoid these types of mishaps? How can individuals maintain a healthy and balanced view of networking for achieving their goals and objectives? How can business people connect with the right club or activities for social and professional success?

Listed below are tips which business people can use to make the most of their endeavors without falling victims to the unpretented hype.

All that Glitters

If it is too good to be true, it probably is. People should avoid events or groups that promise an overwhelming amount of perks and do not show a way of measuring that success to their attendees or members. Professionals are asked to be crafty and spend time researching on groups, organizations and activities when they are networking. Attending an event with a large turn out, does not always guarantee meeting the right colleges or clients to develop your network or build your business.

Cyber Clubs

Online networking is great for busy professionals who would like to meet people but have very structured schedules or travel often. Many online groups offer chats, discussions, forums and links for building a resourceful and profitable network. But make sure that you are getting your money's worth and meeting the ideal people for enhancing your network. It is important to learn the demographics and purpose of the online networking company. Read articles, postings, ads and testimonials from the present members. Also inquire about newsletters and weekly or monthly updates.

Ten Factors That Can Make Your Penis Smaller – Learn How To Prevent It From Happening to You!

There are many factors that can cause a man to have a small penis. Some factors can’t be helped, while some factors can be prevented. Here’s a list of some factors that can decrease penis size:

1) Circumcision – Circumcision is a big cause of a smaller penis. The reason for this is that when the foreskin is removed from the penis, it usually leads to scarring. Skin and penile tissue that has been scarred will be less elastic and will typically „shrink“ up (and get smaller) when a scar is formed. Some estimates are that men who are circumcised lose an average of 5% of their penile length. Strangely enough, the companies and industries that profit from circumcision state that there is no scarring nor loss of penis length when a man’s penis is circumcised.

2) Scarring Due to Injury or Burns – Getting your manhood caught in your zipper, excessive masturbation, and other injuries can also make the penis smaller. Because of the sensitive nature of the penile tissues and skin, they can be easily injured. I had a friend who stepped on his dog’s tail in the dead of night. The dog jumped up, clenched down on his penis, and bit into it. After a trip to the hospital (no stitches), and once he healed up, what was the result? His penis was shorter in length and the area that was injured resulted in a scarred depression in this area of his penis.

We mentioned masturbation already, and it’s something to definitely keep in mind. Excessive masturbation, especially when a man is young and masturbating over aggressively, can damage the skin and other penile tissues. If this happens, stop masturbating and let your penis heal 110%. This type of scarring, too, can make your penis smaller.

Burns, as one can imagine, can make your penis smaller, too, and they are more common than most people realize. The most frequent cause is usually from scalding liquid being accidentally poured onto the penis. So, guys, if you like to cook, don’t do it in your boxers.

3) Low Testosterone or Growth Hormone – Low levels of testosterone while the male is still in the fetal stages can result in a smaller penis. In fact, it is one of the causes of micro-penis. When puberty rolls around, the same effect can happen if low-testosterone levels are present.

4) Hormones – Exposure to the wrong hormones can also greatly impact the size of a man’s penis. Such hormones can impede its growth (if the child is exposed) and can also make the penis grow smaller in an adult man, if he is exposed.

5) Smoking – Smoking destroys the fine capillary-bulb networks in your body, especially in your distal extremities and your penis. If you smoke, it’s wise to stop, as it will have an effect on your penis size and your ability to create and maintain an erection.

6) Genetics – Your DNA is the template for the size of your penis. If your genetic code dictates a bit smaller penis, then it’s your genes which may be the culprit.

7) Fetal Exposure to Chemicals – Many pesticides, chemicals, pollutants, and even poor diet can impede proper penis size. Especially if the mother is exposed to such chemicals while she is carrying the male fetus. Infants exposed to certain chemicals can also alter normal penis growth.

8) Radiation Exposure – Some scientists believe that exposure to excessive amounts of radiation, in the penile region of the male child or infant, can hamper penis growth. In the adult male, excessive radiation exposure can make the penis shrink in size and impede its function, too.

9) Penile Trauma – Penis fracturing and penile valve prolapse can be causes of a decrease in penis size and function.

10) The Angry Wife or Girlfriend – Most people have heard the tale of John and Lorena Bobbitt. To provide a short recap, she cut his penis in half with a knife. It was surgically reattached but his penile size was reduced from the trauma.

So, men, take care of your penis to ensure that you don’t lose any „inches.“ Of course, also take steps to ensure that no one else does it for you.

How to Repair a PCL XL Error

Occasional HP printers can run into an issue known as a PCL XL error. Similarly, the PCL XL error makes it impossible to print certain documents. It can occur intermittently or with every request to print. Fixing it is key to getting the printer to work correctly again.

Different Types of PCL XL Errors

This type of error indicates an interruption in the print stream: for some reason, the printer sees the stream as corrupt. PCL XL refers to a "language" that the computer uses to communicate with the printer. HP forums describe it as being "highly structured," which is the reason that any little disturbance will be picked up by the printer and keep it from doing its job.

If the user only experiences these errors in an intermittent or seemingly random fashion, it is most likely that the error lies somewhere between the computer and the printer. Anything from a bad cable, to a bad network, to a bad port could lead to a PCL XL error. Possibly the printer itself is at fault.

If the error is more regularly or produced every time a document is printed, the cause is most likely a driver issue. Drivers are the programs that let the computer communicate with the printer. These may be difficult to fix.

Several Ways to Fix PCL XL Error

Various activities can create problems with drivers. Changes to networks or the drivers themselves can trigger these errors. Unfortunately, staying on top of Microsoft update may also indicate a driver error if one of the updates changes the driver. Try locating the printer's disk and reinstalling the drivers or going to the manufacturer's website to download them.

Sometimes, computers have been set up using universal drivers to communicate with the printer, and these seem to have more problems. Locate and download the exact drivers for the printer being used.

Another option that works well for some machines is to disable some extra printing features:

1. In the program you are working with, click File , then Print , then Properties , and finally Advanced .

2. Disable the "Advanced Printing Features" option.

3. Disable the "Print Optimizations."

This does not necessarily fix the error per se, but allows printing to continue without seeing the error message.

Driver Errors Can Be Registry Errors

Drivers talk to printers by way of the registry, since that is how the computer catalogs these various background files. If a registry entry has been corrupted that deals with the printer-computer connection, the user may see an error. Research using a registry cleaner to fix a PCL XL error and get the printer running again.
